Welcome! This is an official application for a California Concealed Carry Weapon license. You must completely and accurately fill-out this application to be considered for a Concealed Carry Weapon License. Any falsification of the information within this application is a crime and will result in the denial of the applicant’s Concealed Carry Weapon license request.
Authority
California Penal Code sections 26150 and 26155 provide that a Sheriff of a county or the Chief or other head of a municipal police department of any city, or city and county, may issue a license to carry a pistol, revolver, or other firearm capable of being concealed upon the person (Concealed Carry Weapon license).
Who May be Issued a License
The licensing authority specified in Penal Code sections 26150 and 26155 (a Sheriff or the Chief or other head of a municipal police department) may issue a license to persons who are of good moral character (for applications submitted before January 1, 2024) and who have completed a course of firearm training. All applicants for a Concealed Carry Weapon license will be fingerprinted with state and federal records checked to determine if they are eligible to possess firearms. Format and Duration of a Concealed Carry Weapon License
A California Concealed Carry Weapon License allows a person to carry a pistol or revolver capable of being concealed upon the person (AR Pistols are not authorized). A Standard Concealed Carry Weapon license is valid for 2 years and requires the completion of a 8-hour firearms training course prior to renewal.
The initial interview will be conducted telephonically on your scheduled date and time. Follow-up, in-person interviews may be necessary at the discretion of the department.
